ECEWS/NKA UFORO IBAN SUPPORT VULNERABLE HOUSEHOLDS WITH BUSINESS FUNDS
Fifty vulnerable households in Abak and Etinan LGAs were Wednesday empowered to stay above the current downward economy by the Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme (ECEWS) in partnership with Nka Uforo Iban, USA
On October 25, 2024, the Nka Uforo Iban team, led by Enobong Titus, visited Udua Idoro Uruk Uso in Abak LGA. The purpose of the visit was to assist women in the National Identification Number (NIN) registration process. This initiative aimed to enable these women to open regular accounts with Nigerian banks. Facilitating this registration is crucial for them to access their business grants. The team’s efforts will significantly enhance the financial inclusion of these women.

TEAM VISITS ETINAN TO FACILITATE THE NIGERIAN IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (NIN) REGISTRATION

The team visited Etinan to facilitate the Nigerian Identification Number (NIN) registration and account opening process for empowerment beneficiaries. This initiative aims to ensure that beneficiaries can access their grants and banking services effectively.

Their success stories are a testament to the power of opportunity, resilience, and community collaboration
1. Glory Augustine is a small-scale trader who purchases Afang at Akpanadem Market for ₦5,000 and typically earns a profit of ₦500 to ₦800, depending on the quantity sold. Through the empowerment opportunity, she has successfully scaled her business. Below is her testimony before and after the opportunity.

2. Lucy, a small-scale trader specializing in melons and peppers, expresses her sincere gratitude to ECEWS/NKA UFORO IBAN for the opportunity to expand her business. Having transformed her business from a dependency to a leading enterprise, she is deeply appreciative of the empowerment and support provided by ECEWS/NKA UFORO IBAN.
3. Mfon Joe James expresses her heartfelt gratitude to ECEWS/Nka Uforo Iban for the invaluable support in scaling up her business. What began as selling just waterleaf has now grown to include a variety of foodstuffs. This opportunity has significantly expanded her business and improved her livelihood.
